Keep Your Pool Sparkling

Summertime = Swimming & Sun!

For us southern hemisphere types – It’s Summer! And for the NoSpill™ team in Brisbane, it means long hot days with the prospect of even longer cool swims.

The NoSpill™ is on hand to transport the chlorine needed to keep your pool sparkling clean.

In this blog, we will give you a few handy tips on how to keep your pool in tip-top condition for summer. From collecting debris in the pool including those pretty but pesky Jacaranda flowers to keeping your chlorine levels stable.

Cleaning your Pool

We know that all pools require cleaning to remove the debris like leaves sticks and other grotty things that they collect. For a lot of home owners, the pool cleaning is a ritual relaxation and pondering by the water, for others it is a quick fix job so they can jump into clear water without the risk of jumping on a branch or a toad!

The quickest and cheapest option is to clean it yourself by 'hand vacuuming'. The 'vacuum' is the long tubes attached to your pool cleaner. This is a great method when you have to pick up large amounts of debris.

By far the easiest way is by using a mechanical pool cleaner. There are several models out there and it is always great to speak to your local pool shop about your options.

Chemical Balance

There's a wide range of kits on the market you can use to test your pool water, you can find these at your local pool shop. A basic 'four-in-one' test is a good starting point. This kit tests chlorine levels, total alkalinity, and pH, as well as the level of acid needed to rebalance the pH.

The chemical balance of your pool is made up of:

  • pH (Acidity/Alkalinity Level): 68%
  • Total Alkalinity (TA): 16%
  • Calcium Hardness: 16%

It’s a good idea to monitor your chlorine and pH levels at least once a week, or every day if your pool is in high use.
